This is an absolutely wonderful read, I loved it from start to finish, getting to know the Knighton women as told through the eyes of the youngest Holly was fun, moving and an eye opener for the four different generations, set in 1982 can a dance competition see them all move onto the next phase in their lives?

Four females from the one family living in a big old house in the Clare Valley in South Australia, Greaty, (Dorothy) 75 the matriarch, Flo, 55 loves protests and joining in any venture she feels strongly about, Lucy 32 single mum to Holly and Holly 12 who has big ambitions to be a dancer, when a dance marathon is announced to raise funds, Holly is determined to enter and to win, but will this competition cause problems for this family with no men?

Greaty has lived in this house all of her life she was a single mum and has never had any intention of marrying, she lives by her rules and loves referring to a book her mother gave her The Women’s Annual 1905, she is also writing a compendium which re-writes a lot of the rules of this book.

Flo stands up for what she believes in especially to do with woman’s rights, she is widowed and has one daughter but she has a friend Wilma they are close and eager to stand up for the rights of many people, will the dance competition see her do just that.

Lucy single mother to Holly, daughter of Flo, has health problems she loves her daughter and family but wants love and romance, will she ever find the right man for her?

Holly loves Olivia Newton-John she wants to be a dancer so badly, she is best friends with Barry and this dance marathon means everything to her, she loves her family but this dance marathon seems to be causing problems for the family.

This story tells of the different generations of the family it shows their strength and character and the way they cope with life and each other, there are some very funny and witty moments throughout the book and there are some emotional ones, yes lots of different emotions throughout this fabulously written story, I felt differently about each one of them but loved them all, lots of ups and downs and it is one that I would highly recommend, don’t miss this one it is sure to keep any reader fully entertained.
